My SO is looking for a bike to chop up. He wants t make a 70's style chopper. He has a springer front end and a peanut tank already. He found a 1981 Virago for sale for $275. He figured this would make a good donor bike. The guy said it runs up and down the street. My SO bought it last night. What a nice bike! Too nice to chop up. Worth at least $800. He said he's not going to chop up something like that. The chrome fenders aren't even pitted.

He said he wasn't sure what he was going to do with it. Well, it's mine if I want it. I'm thinking this would make a great bike for long distances when I don't want to be stopping for gas all the time.

So, what do you think. Should I keep it? I thought I could put a windshield and bags. I don't want to customize it because of the year, but I'm so used to turning heads with my Savage that I would like to make it special. The headlight on this thing is nice, big and flat. Chrome fenders are wicked nice. It needs a new header pipe. Mufflers look great. I don't know how the header pipe got so rusted and the rest of the bike looks so good. Must have sat in snow.
